How long will my personal injury claim take to resolve?
Personal injury claims may take a few years if you have to go to trial—or they may take a few months if we can negotiate or mediate your claim with insurers.
Contingency means that we only get paid if you get paid. We take a percentage of your personal injury claim.
Why do I need expert witnesses for my case?
Expert witnesses help prove negligence, especially in medical malpractice claims, where we must prove a standard of professional care was not met. Complex medical issues require a knowledgeable voice.
Who can bring a wrongful death claim?
Spouses may bring wrongful death claims. If there is no spouse, children may, and if there is no spouse nor children, then parents may. Talk to our office about legal standing in South Carolina.
If the proscribed penalty for a conviction is jail, we usually cannot stop you from going to jail if you are convicted. In some cases, you may be eligible for appeal, but those cases are rare.
We can present aggressive evidence that shows you are not guilty and we can work with the prosecutor to cut you the best deal we can, but there are no guarantees. An attorney who guarantees something is lying to you.
What can you do to reduce my fines? What if I can’t pay them?
We can use evidence and argumentation to obtain dismissal or a reduction in charges or penalties, but there are no guarantees to any results in any court. If you are unable to pay fines, we may be able to work something out for you with the court at its discretion.
What do I bring to my family law consultation with the office?
Bring all papers related to your marriage, any real property, including real estate you own or lease together or separately, any paperwork related to bank accounts, investments, or other financial instruments, and your present household budget.
Why do I need a lawyer for real estate? Isn’t a realtor and a title agent enough?
Sometimes, a realtor and a title agent are enough, but, in most instances, neither party is qualified to represent your interests in all possible scenarios. Working with a real estate lawyer on transactions helps to ensure that you cover all your bases, prepare for eventualities, and protect yourself from liability as much as possible.
Talk to us about your specific situation and we’ll explain why legal representation matters to you.
Why do I need a lawyer when I start my own business?
Business formation sets the tone for your business for years to come. An attorney helps you consider aspects that may not directly relate to your passion or your business model, but that are still important to your long-term success. Tax planning can be fairly complicated, too, especially if you have no experience in it.
